Where to eat in Ravda

Ravda has an abundance of options, some good, some not so good. During peak season, you may battle to get seats at the best spots.

My (current) favourite places to eat in Ravda are:

Chuchurya (down the main road on the right - past Nellys) - best Saches - nice garden area out back. Good food, good value but gets very busy!

Bachvata (close to Emerald - has the rotisserie chickens outside) - good food, gets very crowded and noisy with local singing at wekends / during peak season.

Hotel Sunrise (take a left after pizzeria and 50m down on your right) - off the main road so can be quieter - not as good value as the other two but pleasant enough food and a nice outside area beneath vines.

There's even an English pub / restaurant called the Boat, if you fancy a bit of home tucker.

When to go to the Emerald Resort

The main season extends from May until early October although Ravda and the Emerald Resort are quieter at the beginning and end of this period. The Emerald Spa and Resort is busiest during July and August and Ravda is the same with families coming from Bulgaria and all across Europe to enjoy the sun, sea and sand. Restaurants can get full quite quickly during peak season and you made need to wait for a seat. If you want to make use of the Emerald's fine Spa, you may need to book a few days in advance.

Ravda flourishes in peak season, every stall is open, ice-cream and kebab shops can be found along the main street, restaurants are often accompanied by local singers and musicians, especially at weekends.

June, July and August are typically the warmest months with weather being a little less predictable. It may get a little cold to use the Emerald Resort outdoor pool during early May and late September but there is always the indoor pool and Spa.

Available accommodation

We bought a flat in the Emerald Resort in 2006 because we love Bulgaria, we love the summer weather, we love shopska salads, we love beer that costs under £1.00 a pint, we love kavarmas, we love the luxury that we can afford in Bulgaria, and now, we love Ravda.

Our one bed appartment is based in the Damask wing of the Emerald Resort. It is tastefully furnished, air-conditioned and within a five minute walk of the beach and local restaurants.... or two minutes away from the Resort's pools, bars, grill and spa.

But don't take our word for it - look at Trip Advisor
